“I am currently on dialysis and in need of my 4th transplant. I was diagnosed with the rare kidney condition Focal Segmental Glomerulosclerosis (FSGS) at age 3, but after 36 years, it turns out my original condition was actually a rare condition called Steriod-resistant nephrotic syndrome (SRNS).

I have had both cadaveric and live donor transplants which lasted over a decade each and sadly a live donor which lasted 24hrs for unknown reasons.

My last live donor and successful transplant was when I was 25, it was from my younger brother. I had spent 5 years on dialysis up until that point after my first transplant failed after 13 years.

My brother’s kidney saved me in so many ways, I had no hope until I got his. I went on to go to university, get a degree I mental health nursing, have a baby and meet my fiancé mark.

Sadly,  I'm on HD again as of January 2025 but I am hopeful that one day, despite having an incredibly high antibody count that there is a perfect donor out there for me.”
