In May 2024 I was diagnosed with an autoimmune condition called anti-GBM disease, which affected my kidneys and lungs.

I was initially admitted to West Suffolk Hospital and then transferred to Addenbrookes to start plasma exchange treatment.  I also received cyclophosphamide treatment and was on medication to treat my condition.

I was in hospital for nearly one month and discharged in June 2024, where I continued to receive treatment as an outpatient. I completed all treatments in November 2024.

I am still under the care of the Vasculitis team at Addenbrooke's and attend regular clinic appointments. On my recent clinic appointment, I was informed I am now in remission from this disease.

The treatment, care and support I received at both WSH and Addenbrookes was outstanding and I will be forever grateful to the staff there.

I am taking part in the NKF June step challenge to raise money for fellow kidney patients.

I hope my story can help others in a similar situation.
