The National Kidney Federation and several KPA's have pledged support, along with other kidney charities, MPs, and health professionals, in signing an open letter urging government and NHS leaders to prioritise the prevention and detection of Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD).

The open letter led by Dr Simon Opher MP (Chair, All Party Parliamentary Group of Health), raises the urgent need for inclusion of CKD identification and management in primary care incentivisation schemes and the development of a CKD Modern Service Framework.

With kidney disease having a rising impact and projecting to cost the NHS £10.3 billion annually by 2033, more focus is needed on CKD prevention. The National Kidney Federation fully supports this joint call for stronger action to prioritise kidney disease.
