7 million lives at risk - what's the plan? is a campaign by the National Kidney Federation, UKKA, Kidney Research UK, Kidney Care UK and PKD Charity calling on the government to commit to a national strategy for kidney disease, a Kidney Disease Modern Service Framework.

Kidney disease is one of the UK's fastest-growing health crises, affecting over 7 million people, an average of 11,000 in each constituency. Kidney disease is one of the top ten biggest killers worldwide and is projected to become the fifth leading cause of premature mortality by 2040.

Yet for too long, kidney disease has been under prioritised. We need the Government to outline a clear strategy to tackle kidney disease, prevent future cases, and improve care for millions of people living with this condition.

Write to your MP

By writing to your MP, you can help ensure kidney disease is taken seriously and support the call for a Modern Service Framework on kidney disease.

The National Kidney Federation has made it easy to write to your local MP with a ready-to-use template letter, just add your personal experience and send.

Please note: If your MP is Wes Streeting (Secretary of State for Health and Social Care) or the Prime Minister, Sir Keir Starmer, we've already written to both asking for a national strategy on kidney disease. We will keep you updated on the campaign as it progresses. If you still wish to share your personal story with them, we encourage you to do so.
